What Is Included in a Brake Inspection

Your vehicle’s brakes are your most important safety system. Regular brake inspections catch potential problems before they become dangerous — and expensive. Here’s what you can expect when you bring your vehicle to JSN Auto Repair for a brake inspection.

Visual Examination

The first step is a thorough visual inspection of all major brake components: brake pads, rotors, calipers, and brake lines. Our technicians check for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Worn brake pads or damaged rotors compromise stopping power and pose a serious safety risk — identifying these issues early allows for timely replacement before other components are damaged.

Brake Fluid Check

Brake fluid transmits the force from your pedal to the braking components. During inspection, we check both the fluid level and its condition. Contaminated or low brake fluid leads to decreased performance and can cause brake failure. We’ll recommend a fluid flush if the fluid is discolored or below the recommended level.

Brake Pad Thickness Measurement

Using specialized tools, our technicians accurately measure brake pad thickness. When pads wear below the recommended limit, braking efficiency drops and rotor damage accelerates. If your pads are too thin, we’ll recommend immediate replacement.

Functional Test

The final step is a performance evaluation — either a road test or using specialized equipment. We assess pedal responsiveness, listen for unusual noises or vibrations, and confirm the vehicle stops smoothly and consistently. This step catches hidden issues that aren’t visible during the physical inspection.
