Know About Common AC Repairs, Keep Your Cool

Even though an identification of your AC’s problem can be made with accuracy until we inspect it, we can share our observations of some of the most common auto AC repairs. When the system seems to be working fine yet the air blowing from the vents is too warm, the AC may simply need a recharge of refrigerant. A lower than normal refrigerant level that develops over time (a span of years) may be nothing to worry about. However, if the level is leaking down sooner than it should, we’ll need to find the leak. If the temperature is consistently too hot or too cold (i.e., the system works, but the temperature doesn’t fluctuate when you adjust the thermostat control), you might be experiencing the effects of a stuck blend air door. This is the component that lets hot and cold air mix properly to achieve your set temperature. Sticking blend air doors most often occur when the car and/or AC haven’t been used for a long time. An AC that won’t come on at all may not be getting power. This could be the result of a blown fuse or broken wire. Our technicians can find and correct either of these for you. Fluid leaks, warm air, and/or odd noises coming from the air conditioner can point to a failing compressor. Other common issues can be a problem with the condenser, dryer, or orifice tube/expansion valve (depending on which your model uses).
